Macallen Building

Macallen Building Boston Condo Development History

The Macallen Building is Boston’s first-ever Gold LEED-certified condominium development and sits in South Boston adjacent to both the South End and the Seaport District with excellent access to public transportation (MBTA Broadway Red Line T-Stop) and local highways.

Boasting 140 units with almost every full-service condo amenity imaginable, from 24-hour concierge to lap pool, the Macallen offers residents luxury living accommodations in an environmentally friendly environment.

The Macallen remains the gold standard in high-quality South Boston condominiums – Pappas Enterprises, the property developer, went so far as to create a Green Manifesto during the building’s construction.  In the documentary film about the building called The Greening of Southie, the lengths to which Pappas went, including banning construction workers from smoking on the job site (the entire building remains non-smoking) were on full display.  Macallen HVAC systems in each condo pull fresh air, not recirculated air, from the outside, and in setting the best indoor air quality standard, Macallen Building insulation comes from recycled jeans, not fiberglass!

While there are many unit types and floorplans inside the Macallen Building, with studio condos to duplex and triplex units with private outdoor space, the Macallen Building is not a loft-style condo development like its adjacent sister development, Court Square Press.

More Luxury South Boston Condos for Sale & Rent Near Macallen Building

There are 3 other luxury condo developments within a stone's throw of the Macallen Building. If you're interested in the Macallen Building, check out its loft-style sister condo development called Court Square Press, also a full-service concierge building. Court Square Press and the Macallen are adjacent to one another, were both developed by Pappas Properties, and share a driveway and amenities (the fitness gym for both buildings is actually housed in the basement of Court Square Press). Across the street from the Macallen Building is Allele which has similar interiors to the Macallen (yet without all the environmentally-friendly LEED certification), and adjacent to Allele is Lofts at 36A, a small boutique South Boston condo development with beautiful polished concrete floors, floor-to-ceiling windows, and a great shared roof deck with some units having their own private space.
